Medical Evangelism / Evangelismo Medico

We just spent a wonderful week with the youth from “The Freedom Center” and from Mexico City. Together we did medical evangelism and drama ministry.  Over 250 people were ministered to by our medical team and we also saw several people make decisions for Christ.  Perhaps the biggest fruit that came was at the end when the local pastor came to me and showed me a list of over 100 people that he spoke with who have opened their doors for him to visit them.  In one of the towns we visited, these home visits may result in a new church being planted. Thank you again to all the TFC team who worked so hard to bless so many.

Acabamos de pasar una semana muy bonita con un equipo de jóvenes de la Iglesia Freedom Center y la Cuidad de México.  Juntos hicimos evangelismo medico y dramas. Mas de 250 personas fueron atendidas por nuestro equipo medico también vimos a varios entregar su vida a Cristo. Talvez el fruto mas grande es que vino de esta experiencia es que el pastor local con quien estábamos trabajando me presento una lista de mas de 100 personas que le abrieron las puertas para que los visite.  En uno de estos pueblos estas vistas pueden resultar en una nueva iglesia.  Gracias a todos del equipo del “Freedom Center” que trabajaron duro para bendicir a muchos.

Pastoral Training / Adiestramiento Pastoral

En el mes de abril tuvimos mucha acción en CAPE. Dimos la materia de Evidencias Cristiana en nuestra cede principal de Nocixlan y también dimos otra materia de Ministerio Pastoral entre la comunidad de los Mixes en un pueblo que se llama San Juna Coxocon. Durante este mes de mayo vamos intentar a abril otra cede de CAPE entre los Zapotecos de los valles centrales.  Gracias por su apoyo que hace posible toda esta capacitación pastoral.

April was a busy month in our CAPE program.  We gave an apologetics class in our main study center in Nochixlan, Oaxaca and we also taught a pastoral ministries class among the Mixes in a town called San Juan Coxocon.   During this month we will attempt to open another CAPE study center among the Zapotecos of the central valleys.  Thank you for all your support which makes this pastoral training possible. 

Fiesta de Etnias - Rev Javier Munoz

I want to thank Rev. Javier Munoz from Peris, CA for preaching in our 2^nd indigenous celebration.  The Lord moved powerfully during his message many indigenous pastors came to the altar and were healed and refreshed by God.  Pastor Munoz has been a good friend and a faithful supporter of our work. Thank you again pastor Munoz for coming to bless the indigenous groups of Oaxaca.

Quiero darle gracias a Rev. Javier Munoz de Peris, CA por su predicación durante nuestra segunda celebración de etnias.  El Senior se movió poderosamente durante el mensaje y muchos hermanos indígenas veneiron al altar y fueron refrescados y sanados en la presencia de Dios. El Pastor Munoz es un gran amigo y apoyador de nuestro trabajo.  Gracias pastor por venir y bendicir a los grupos indígenas de Oaxaca.

2nd Indigenous Celebration / Segunda Celebración de Grupos Étnicos

On Tuesday we helped coordinate the second annual Indigenous Celebration. The theme of the event was unity. It was wonderful to see so many indigenous groups gathering together to worship God as one body.  Please continue to pray for revival among the indigenous groups of Oaxaca.   

El martes ayudamos coordinar la segunda celebración de grupos étnicos.  El teme de este evento era la unidad. Fue bonito ver muchos diferente grupos indígenas alabando a Dios como unidos como un cuerpo en Cristo.  Por favor sigan orando por avivamiento entre los grupos étnicos de Oaxaca.

Learning to Hear / Aprendiendo a Escuchar

Mexico recently celebrated “Day of the Mother Tongue,” honoring the many language groups represented here in Mexico, and especially here in the south. One of the prominent language groups here in Oaxaca is Mixteco. In February I enrolled in a linguistics course and learned the International Phonetic Alphabet, a tool linguists use to deconstruct any language. As part of our homework, I asked a woman to say 100 Mixteco words to me, and I had to transcribe them using my new alphabet. It was quiet the challenge to “hear” sounds I’ve never perceived and decide which alphabet symbol to use. Some of the sounds in Mixteco do not even exist in English or Spanish. I was frustrated trying to hear sounds behind closed teeth, and find meaning behind sounds that had no meaning for me. The Bible says, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard what God has in store for those who love Him.”  I find myself not just singing, “Open the eyes of my heart,” but “Open my EARS!” I know God has something new for me as I open my ears to the sounds of heaven, and wait for God to assign His meaning, and His plan.

México celebro recientemente "el Día de la Lengua Madre", en honor a los muchos grupos lingüísticos aquí en México, especialmente en la región sur. Uno de los grupos lingüísticos prominentes aquí en Oaxaca es el mixteco. El mes pasado me inscribí en un curso lingüístico y aprendí el alfabeto fonético internacional, una herramienta lingüística utilizado para descifrar cualquier idioma. Como parte de nuestra tarea, le pedí a una mujer que me dijera 100 palabras mixtecas, y tuve que transcribirlas usando mi nuevo alfabeto. Fue un gran reto "oír" sonidos que jamas había percibido y decidir cual símbolo del alfabeto utilizar. Algunos de los sonidos del mixteco ni siquiera existen en el ingles o español. Me frustraba al tratar de oír sonidos a través de dientes cerrados y buscar el significado de sonidos que para mi no tenían significado. La Biblia dice, "Cosas que ojo no vio, ni oído oyó, son las que Dios ha preparado para los que le aman." No solo me encontraba cantando, "Abre mis ojos," sino "!Abre mis oídos!" Yo se que Dios tiene algo nuevo para mi mientras que abro mis oídos a los sonidos del cielo, y le espero a Dios para asignar Su significado y Su plan.

 

New Year and New Opertunities / Nuevo Año con Nuevas Oportunidades

With great joy and anticipation we enter into 2013. Last year was full of hard year of work. We are grateful for the many areas of advancement we’ve been able to see.  Last year we made several advances in our indigenous pastoral training program called CAPE.  The numbers of pastors we are training has grown and we soon hope to implement a strategy that will take this program to a national level.  We will continue to work along side the national leadership here in Mexico so that all indigenous pastors around Mexico will have access to this much needed pastoral training.

Last year we were also active in medical evangelism.  It was exciting to see the great response in the indigenous communities to the gospel message when we ministered with love and compassion to people in pain.  It is our hope and desire to continue this form of evangelism during 2013.

None of this is possible without your support.  If you have not had a chance to send your financial support, please know that every dollar makes a difference.  To make bible institute training available to indigenous pastors throughout Mexico is a great financial challenge and we need your help.  Working together with these indigenous pastors we will be a part of taking the Gospel to the last of the unreached in     Mexico.  Thank you again for your support of our missionary work.

 El año pasado estuvo lleno de mucho trabajo fuerte.  Estamos alegres por los avances que pudimos ver.  El año pasado hicimos varios cambios a nuestro programa de adiestramiento llamado CAPE.  Los números de pastores que se están preparando crecieron y pronto deseamos implementar estrategias que podrán llevar este programa a un nivel nacional.  Vamos a continuar trabajando con los líderes nacionales para asegurar que todos los pastores de las etnias tengan acceso al instituto Bíblico. 

El año pasado también estuvimos activos con evangelismo medico.  Fue bonito ver la gran respuesta en las comunidades indígenas al mensaje del evangelio cuando ministramos con amor y compasión a personas en dolor.  Es nuestro deseo continuar con esta forma de evangelismo durante este año.  

Nada de esto seria posible sin el apoyo de usted.  Si no ha podido mandar su apoyo mensual le recuerdo que cada dólar hace una gran diferencia.  Para poder ofrecer el instituto bíblico a pastores indígenas en todo México es un gran reto financiero y necesitamos de su ayuda.  Al trabajar junto con los pastores de las etnias podemos ser parte de llevar el evangelio al los últimos no alcanzados de México. Gracias de nuevo por su apoyo a este trabajo misionero.
