Last week we had a wonderful time participating in a week of medical outreaches conducted by A.G. missionaries to Mexico and the Oaxaca District of the A.G. This joint team ministered to about 700 people with 100 people deciding to receive Jesus Christ as their Savior. It was a great joy to work together with this team to bless so many people affected by the recent earthquakes. Thank you for your prayers and support that allows us to participate in these great efforts.

We are also happy to inform you that we have distributed 400 Sawyer water filters between the states of Oaxaca and Chiapas. Thanks to the generosity of several churches we have also helped put up 20 roofs for people who lost their homes. The work of rebuilding the communities affected by the earthquakes will be a part of Oaxacan life for many years. The Oaxaca district has informed me that 30 churches have been damaged, 6 of which will have to be torn down.

We have continued our work in training indigenous pastors. Every month our CAME sites have received 25 students from different indigenous groups in Oaxaca. Next month in collaboration with the Mexican A.G. national missions department, we have scheduled our first training course for teacher and district leaders who desire to start CAME centers in different Mexican states.

There is much work ahead; for this reason, we are asking you to always remember us in your prayers and please consider a small increase in your monthly support as God enables you. Thank you and God bless you! 

La semana pasada tuvimos un tiempo muy bonito participando en unas brigadas médicas compuestas de misioneros y el Distrito Oaxaca. El equipo ministro a aproximadamente 700 personas y cerca de 100 tomaron decisiones de recibir a Jesucristo como su salvador. Fue un gran gozo colaborar en este esfuerzo que fue de bendición a muchas personas. Gracias a ustedes por su oraciones y apoyo que nos permite ser parte de estos grandes esfuerzos.

También les informo que este mes hemos repartido 400 filtros de agua Sawyer en los estados de Oaxaca y Chipas. Y gracias a la generosidad de varias iglesias hemos colaborado en levantar 20 techos para familias que perdieron su casa. El trabajo de reconstrucción de las comunidades afectadas por los terremotos en Oaxaca va tomar muchos años. El distrito Oaxaca nos informa que 30 iglesias sufrieron daños y 6 de estas iglesias tendrán que ser demolidas.

Sigamos trabajado también con la capacitación de pastores. Cada mes nuestras sedes de CAME atienden mas de 25 estudiantes de diferentes etnias de Oaxaca. El mes de enero, en coordinación con la Directiva Nacional de Misiones en Mexico, hemos programado nuestra primera capacitación para maestros y líderes distritales de otros distritos en Mexico que desean iniciar un centro de CAME en otros estados.

Hay mucho trabajo que hacer. Por este motivo, les pedimos que se recuerden de nosotros en oración y si esta dentro de sus posibilidades consideren un pequeño aumento en su apoyo mensual. Gracias y Dios les bendiga.

Quiero tomar un momento para agradecer a los hermanos de la Iglesia Evangélica Latina y Roca de Salvación que nos visitaron la semana pasada. Con la ayuda de ellos repartimos muchas despensas y nos ayudaron en la construcción de un techo para una familia que perdió uso de su casa en los terremotos.  

También agradecemos mucho la ayuda de varias iglesias que han enviado ofrendas. Con las ofrendas que recibimos vamos a seguir ayudando los hermanos afectados por los terremotos. Últimamente hemos estado activos repartiendo despensas, filtros de agua y en la construcción de techos para aquellos que perdieron sus casas. También hemos seguido con nuestro trabajo original de capacitar pastores para las etnias de Oaxaca. Les pido mucho por sus oraciones esta temporada de trabajo ha sido muy fuerte, pero con la ayuda de Dios y ustedes vamos a seguir adelante. Gracias y Dios les Bendiga.

I want to take a moment to thank the team for Iglesia Evangelica Latina y Roca de Salvación for their visit last week. With their help, we give out many food baskets and they also helped us set up a roof structure for a family that lost their house during the last earthquake. 

We also want to thank the churches that have sent a special offering last month. With these offerings we will continue to help the earthquake victims, by giving out food baskets, providing water filters and putting up temporary roof structures. We will also work hard to carry on with our original work of training indigenous pastors. Please keep us in your prayers during this challenging time. Once again thank you and God Bless. 

Earthquake Response / Respueta a los Sismos

Dear Supporters

Blessings and greetings from Oaxaca. I hope this message finds you well and enjoying many blessings. It has been hard to witness the events that have been happening in Mexico over the last two weeks. Today’s earthquakes along with the previous one have caused much heartache and suffering. As you have seen in the news, many towns in Oaxaca and Chiapas have been severely affected. Yesterday I accompanied the Oaxaca district missions director on a trip to the city of Juchitán to deliver about a ton of food and other aid items. During this time, we also visited two families who had lost their homes; it was very painful to see the heartache and loss that these people were suffering.

It has been a blessing to see how the church members of the Oaxaca District have mobilized to help. Many have donated food, clothing and offerings to help the affected villages. It felt great to be able to help transport much of this relief aid to Juchitán, one of the largest cities affected.  The Oaxaca District of the Assemblies of God reports that that they have 60 pastors in towns affected by the earthquake. The Chiapas district has reported that they have 70 pastors in affected towns. Please pray that these pastors and their churches can be a source of hope to so many that are suffering.

What can we do in the midst of so much need? With your help, we are doing the following two things.

1. We are working with the national Mexican AG missions department and the Oaxaca district of the AG to help in the distribution of food and construction materials. We will be joining them on fact finding trips and trips to delivery spiritual and physical aide.

2. We will be working with a company called “Sawyer” to distribute 400 water filters. When these filters arrive in Mexico, we will coordinate a distribution of these filters to the 130 pastors in Oaxaca and Chiapas so that their churches can become drinking water distribution centers. 

Lastly, we strongly urge you to pray for the physical, mental and emotional healing in these 130 churches so that the message of the Gospel can go forth in these troubled places.

We also ask that you would be faithful in your monthly giving. Now more than ever we rely on these funds in order to deliver much needed aid to these hurting villages.

Dios les bendiga. Espero que este mensaje los encuentre bien y disfrutando de muchas bendiciones. Los eventos en Mexico sobre las últimas dos semanas han sido muy difícil para ver. El sismo de hoy junto con el sismo previo ha causado muchas dificultadas y tristeza.  Como ya han visto en las noticias muchas zonas de Oaxaca y Chiapas han sido gravemente afectadas.  El día de ayer acompañe el director distrital de misiones para llevar una tonelada de dispensas a la cuidad de Juchitán. Durante esta visita también vistamos a dos personas que perdieron sus casas; fue muy doloroso ver la condición de estas personas. 

Le damos gracias a Dios que el distrito Oaxaca se ha movilizado; los hermanos han donado dispensas, ropa y ofrendas para ayudar a los pueblos en las zonas afectadas. Fue un gran gozo ayudar transportar una tonelada de estos donativos a la cuidad de Juchitán. El distrito Oaxaca reporta que tenemos 60 pastores en pueblos afectados por el sismo. En Chipas nos han informado que hay 70 pastores en pueblos afectados. Por favor oren que estos pastores pueden ser una luz de esperanza y salvación para muchos que están sufriendo. 

¿Que podemos hacer en esta situación tan difícil? Con el apoyo de ustedes nosotros estamos haciendo dos cosas. 

1. Estamos trabajando juntos con el departamento nacional de misiones y el Distrito Oaxaca en la distribución de dispensas y materiales de construcción. Vamos a acompañar a estos hermanos en viajes de exploración, ayuda y ministerio espiritual a las zonas afectadas.

2. Estamos trabajando juntos con la compañía Sawyer para la distribución de 400 filtros de agua. Cuando lleguen estos filtros a Mexico vamos a coordinar una distribución a las 130 iglesias en Oaxaca y Chipas para que cada iglesia pueda ser un centro de filtración de agua para beber. 

Por último, solicitamos mucho sus oraciones para la sanidad física, mental y emocional de estos 130 pueblos y sus iglesias que el mensaje del evangelio pueda ser comunicado en estos lugares.  

También les pedimos que sigan dando fielmente sus promesas de apoyo mensual. Contamos mucho con estos fondos, especialmente ahora para poder llegar con ayuda a estos pueblos.

Praise Report / Testimonio de Victoria

I’m happy to report that our medical outreach last month was a great success. I want to thank those of you who took the time to support us in prayer for this outreach. Thanks to your prayers and the help of a team from “The Freedom Center” and “His Healing Touch Ministry” we ministered to over nine hundred people in six villages. Five hundred people received a pair of glasses and over one hundred people received Christ as their personal savior. It was great to see our sons joining in with the team and helping with the distribution of glasses to many people who did not have access to these services. It was also great to see many parts of the kingdom of God coming together to reach the lost; youth from Michigan who performed skits and distributed glasses, a doctor and nurses who ministered physical as well as spiritually, and local pastors who preached the word in their indigenous languages, and most importantly your prayers.  Thank you once again for your continued prayer and financial support which makes all this possible.

Estoy feliz de reportar que nuestras brigadas médicas el mes pasado fue de gran existo. Le quiero dar gracias a muchos de ustedes que tomaron el tiempo para orar por estos eventos. Gracias a sus oraciones y la ayuda de la iglesia “The Freedom Center” y el ministerio “His Healing Touch” ministramos a más de novecientas personas en seis pueblos. Quinientas personas recibieron lentes y más de cien personas recibieron a Jesús Cristo como su salvador. Fue un gran gozo ver a nuestros hijos trabajar con el equipo para repartir lentes a personas que no tiene acceso a estos servicios. También fue un gran gozo ver como diferentes personas en el renio de Dios se unieron para alcanzar a los perdidos; jóvenes de Michigan que presentaron dramas y repartieron lentes, un doctor y enfermeros que ministraron físicamente y espiritualmente, pastores locales que predicaron el Evangelio en sus idiomas nativos, y sus oraciones (lo más importante).  Gracias una vez más por su apoyo en oración y ofrendas que hace todo esto posible.

Medical Outreach 2011

Throughout the years we have conducted several medical outreaches that have always brought us great results. When we show the love of Christ through compassion ministry, many unreached villages start to open up their hearts to receive the Gospel message. On June 12th through the 19th we will attempt to do our biggest medical outreach ever. With the help of a team from "The Freedom Center Church" and "His Healing Touch Ministries," we will attempt to visit 5 villages and minister to over 2,000 people. We really need your prayer support during this week of ministry. Would you be willing to commit to an hour of prayer for these medical outreachs? Medical Outreach 2011

A través de los años nosotros hemos organizado varias brigadas médicas la cual siempre han dado buen resultado. Cuando demostramos el amor de Cristo por medio de misterios de compasión muchos pueblos no alcanzados abren sus corazones al mensaje del evangelio. Durante las fechas del 12 de junio al 19 vamos a intentar nuestra brigada médica más grande. Con la ayuda de la iglesia “The Freedom Center” y el ministerio “His Healing Touch,” vamos a visitar cinco pueblos e intentar a ministrar a más de 2,000 personas. Necesitamos mucho su respaldo de oración para estos eventos.

God’s Plans / Los Planes de Dios

God’s Plans

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.    Jeremiah 29:11

           Many times, I feel that I have much in common with our students. The majority of our student never thought they would be preparing themselves to be the first pastors in their towns. Many of them had no hope of ever attending a Bible Institute. In the same way, many years ago I had no idea our family would be serving God in Oaxaca, Mexico. I also had never imagined graduating from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary with a master’s degree in Intercultural Studies. God continues to teach me that His plans are bigger and better than mine.

With your help, in the month of March, we celebrated the third graduation of our indigenous pastors training program (CAPE). We also initiated two more training sites, that will provide more access to pastoral training for indigenous church planters. Perhaps you also never thought you would be used of God to impact unreached villages. Many of you, however, are doing this by praying and giving monthly support. We have no words to express the gratitude we feel for those who have faithfully done this every month. Thank you for allowing God to use your life in this way. We still need your help; together we can continue to make an impact for the Kingdom of God in this place.

Los Planes de Dios

Porque yo sé muy bien los planes que tengo para ustedes - afirma el Señor - , planes de bienestar y no de calamidad, a fin de darles un futuro y una esperanza. Jeremías 29:11

             Muchas veces siento que tengo mucho en común con nuestros estudiantes. La mayoría de nuestros estudiantes nuca pensaron que se iban a preparar para ser los primeros pastores en sus pueblos. Muchos de ellos también no tenían la esperanza de graduar de un Instituto Bíblico. Igualmente, muchos años atrás yo nunca pensé que Dios iba usar nuestra familia en Oaxaca, Mexico. También nunca me imaginaba graduando del seminario teológico de las Asambleas de Dios con una maestría en estudios interculturales. Dios nos sigue enseñando que los planes de El son mas grades y mas poderosos que los de nuestros.

     Con la ayuda de ustedes en el mes de marzo celebramos la tercera graduación de (CAME) nuestro programa de capacitación pastoral. También vimos la apertura dos cedes mas, ampliando el acceso a la capacitación pastoral para obreros de las etnias Oaxaqueñas. Talvez usted tampoco pensó que Dios iba usar su vida para ayudar en la formación de pastores para pueblos no alcanzados, pero muchos de ustedes hacen esto con sus oraciones y apoyo mensual. No tenemos palabras para expresar nuestra gratitud con muchos de ustedes que fielmente hacen esto cada mes. Gracias por dejar que Dios use sus vidas en esta forma. Todavía necesitamos su ayuda; juntos vamos a seguir impactando el Reino de Dios en este lugar.
