Start of our new Missionary Term / Inicio de nuestro nuevo Período Misionero

Recently, I returned from a two-week class with the Caribbean School of Theology (CST) in Guyana, located on the northern coast of South America. This trip marked the start of our new four-year missionary term. I was excited to teach a class on the New Testament epistle of Hebrews. My class consisted of church planters, pastors, and teachers who are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Bible and Theology. With your continued prayer and monthly support, we plan to continue this strategic ministry.

Catherine and I faced many challenges before this initial trip; often, the difficulties of raising a budget were a great source of discouragement. But God is always faithful. Even though we still do not have our full monthly support, enough has come in to begin our work. We continue to seek additional monthly supporters. Please help us pray that we can add another $500 in new monthly support soon.

Our struggles, mixed with the great joy of teaching this recent class, bring to mind the following verses:

1. Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,

2. fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. — Hebrews 12:1–2

Our next trip will take us to the Dutch-speaking country of Suriname, where we will teach another CST class, speak at an event for indigenous Arawak pastors, and minister in a new Cuban church plant. Once again, thank you! We can only do this with your continued support.

Recientemente regresé de un curso de dos semanas con la Escuela Caribeña de Teología (CST) en Guyana, ubicada en la costa norte de Sudamérica. Este viaje marcó el inicio de nuestro nuevo período misionero de cuatro años. Me dio mucha alegría poder enseñar una clase sobre la epístola de Hebreos del Nuevo Testamento. Los estudiantes eran plantadores de iglesias, pastores y maestros que están estudiando para obtener su licenciatura en Biblia y Teología. Con sus oraciones y apoyo mensual, esperamos continuar adelante con este ministerio tan estratégico.

Antes de este primer viaje, Catherine y yo enfrentamos muchos desafíos; en varias ocasiones, el proceso de levantar nuestro presupuesto mensual fue una fuente de desánimo. Pero Dios siempre ha sido fiel. Aunque todavía no contamos con el 100% de nuestro apoyo mensual, ha llegado lo suficiente para comenzar nuestro trabajo. Seguimos buscando nuevos colaboradores mensuales. Les pedimos que nos ayuden a orar para poder añadir pronto otros $500 en apoyo mensual.

Nuestras luchas, mezcladas con la enorme alegría de enseñar esta clase, nos recuerdan los siguientes versículos:

1. Por tanto, también nosotros que estamos rodeados de una nube tan grande de testigos, despojémonos de todo peso y del pecado que nos asedia y corramos con perseverancia la carrera que tenemos por delante. 

2 Fijemos la mirada en Jesús, el iniciador y perfeccionador de nuestra fe, quien por el gozo que le esperaba, soportó la cruz, menospreciando la vergüenza que ella significaba, y ahora está sentado a la derecha del trono de Dios. — Hebreos 12:1–2

Nuestro próximo viaje será a Surinam, un país de habla holandesa, donde estaremos enseñando otro curso de la CST, compartiendo en un evento con pastores indígenas arawak y ministrando en una nueva iglesia plantada para la nueva comunidad cubana en este país. Una vez más, ¡muchísimas gracias! Solo podemos seguir adelante gracias a su apoyo constante.
